Novelist Ian Rankin joins forces with Rona Munro to create a new Rebus story for the stage. The hard-living Scottish copper comes out of retirement at Birmingham Repertory Theatre on September 25 ahead of a UK tour.
Simon Godwin, who will soon leave the UK to take on the US-based Shakespeare Theatre Company, directs Ralph Fiennes and Sophie Okonedo in the Olivier, in a production opening on September 26.
Emma Jordan directs a contemporary, all-female re-imagining of William Golding’s classic story in which a group of schoolgirls find themselves stranded together on an island. The Sherman Theatre co-production opens on September 26.
The Yard has been on a roll this year. Its autumn season begins with Brad Birch’s new play, a one-woman show starring Wendy Kweh set on a plane. Directed by Caitlin McLeod, it opens on September 27.
To mark the 10th anniversary of the playwright’s death, all of Harold Pinter’s short plays will be presented, beginning with Jamie Lloyd’s production of a number of shorts, including The Lover and The Collection. The casts include David Suchet, Russell Tovey, Antony Sher, Tamsin Greig, Maggie Steed and Paapa Essiedu and the season opens on September 27, running until February 23, 2018.
