Tovey will return to the Donmar as a police officer who takes a desperate 999 call during a night shift in The Guilty by Chloë Moss, directed by Punchdrunk’s Felix Barrett. It will open at the Donmar on 20th June and run there until 15th August, with a press night on 30th June.
Danny Lee Wynter’s family drama Ilford Boy completes the Donmar’s line-up of world premiere plays. Directed by Donmar artistic director Timothy Sheader, it will run from 10th October until 28th November, with a press night on 20th October.
A Month in the Country, reworked by Friel from the original 19th-century play by Ivan Turgenev, will precede Ilford Boy, running from 22nd August to 3rd October, with a press night on 2nd September. The production will be directed by Turner, who has a track record of reviving Friel’s work at the Donmar including Faith Healer and Philadelphia, Here I Come!.
Artistic director Sheader and executive director Henny Finch said: "It’s always a pleasure to welcome back returning directors and writers; including this season Lyndsey Turner who will further explore her relationship with Brian Friel’s work.
“Equally, we are excited that a number of leading artists will be making their debuts at the Donmar – including directors Carrie Cracknell and Felix Barrett and writers Fran Kranz, Chloë Moss and Danny Lee Wynter."
