David Threlfall has permanently withdrawn from the production of Bengal Tiger at the Baghdad Zoo at the Young Vic.
Threlfall was temporarily replaced by Katherine Hunter in Rajiv Joseph’s play earlier this month, with the Young Vic announcing Threlfall was taking time out due to illness.
However, in an updated statement issued on December 12, the theatre said Peter Forbes was now replacing him for the entire run.

“Sadly, David Threlfall will not be returning to Bengal Tiger at the Baghdad Zoo. We want to say a huge thank you to David for his time and work on the show and send our best wishes for a speedy recovery,” it said.
It added: “We’re pleased to welcome Peter Forbes to the company, who will be performing the role of the Tiger from December 13. We’re incredibly grateful to Kathryn Hunter for stepping into the role temporarily, and her final performance will be December 13 at 2.30pm.”
