Bush Theatre artistic director Lynette Linton, actor Andrew Scott and director Marianne Elliott have been named as among London’s top theatre people, as part of the Evening Standard’s Progress 1000 list.
The list celebrates “people changing London’s future for the better”, and its theatre section also includes Andrew Lloyd Webber, Royal Court artistic director Vicky Featherstone, Bridge Theatre co-founders Nicholas Hytner and Nick Starr, actors Ian McKellen and Maggie Smith, and producer Nica Burns.
New Donmar Warehouse artistic director Michael Longhurst also makes the list, alongside producer Cameron Mackintosh and Roxana Silbert, artistic director of Hampstead Theatre. The Young Vic’s Kwame Kwei-Armah is also named, with directors Jamie Lloyd and Rebecca Frecknall also included. The list also features Shakespeare’s Globe artistic director Michelle Terry, playwright Florian Zeller and actor Wendell Pierce.
The list includes categories for sport, philanthropy, technology, engineering, environmental activism, faith, politics and creative arts. Jez Bond, artistic director of the Park Theatre, has been named in the philanthropy section, for making “a difference in the local Finsbury Park community with theatre outreach to local estates and schools, despite no Arts Council funding”.
