Chris Pine’s London theatre debut in Ivanov has been postponed due to "scheduling conflicts".
The Bridge Theatre production, a reimagining of Chekhov’s play by writer-director Simon Stone, has been pushed back until summer 2027.
It will now run at the Bridge Theatre from 27th July, 2027 until 16th October, 2027 - almost exactly one year after its planned run for 2026. The show had been due to open at the Bridge Theatre on 14th July, 2026, and run until 19th September.
The news marks the second time this month that a major household name’s upcoming London theatre stint has been impacted by scheduling conflicts.
Earlier in February, Stanley Tucci withdrew from what would have been his stage directing debut in London at Hampstead Theatre due to scheduling conflicts.
The Bridge Theatre said in a statement: "We are very sorry that, because of a scheduling issue for Chris Pine, the dates for Ivanov, his collaboration at the Bridge with writer-director Simon Stone, have to move back a year, to Summer 2027."
The theatre said it was soon to announce the show that would fill the gap in its programming left by Ivanov, hinting that it would also be directed by Stone, following his work on The Lady From The Sea at the theatre last autumn, which starred Alicia Vikander and Andrew Lincoln.
"All affected tickets holders have been contacted directly by the theatre," the Bridge Theatre also declared.
