About the course

Walk into that audition room with confidence! This six-week evening course will empower you to command any audition room and provide you with the necessary tools to unpack even the most challenging monologue.

The course will focus on practical exercises and useful techniques, to bridge the gap between actor, character and text.

Who is this course for?

  • Anyone aged 18 and over who has a passion for acting and would be interested in applying for drama school or an equivalent programme
  • Actors who are looking to improve their monologue technique or skills

What can I expect?

  • Learn how to approach a monologue, practically and with confidence
  • Develop your acting technique through a variety of imaginative and textual based exercises; through the use of movement, vocal and ensemble work
  • You will be encouraged and supported to perform your chosen monologue in front of the class and an invited audience of your choosing at the end of the course. This is not compulsory but is recommended in order to get the most out of the course
  • You will be expected to engage in the practical group, pair and individual tasks during each class. By the end of the course you will have developed a toolbox of techniques that can be applied to any text, along with two appropriate monologues that you can use for future auditions.

"Fred gave me a fresh perspective on approaching monologues and equipped us with a myriad of exercises to support our character explorations."
