Tom Stoppard has announced he will premiere a new play in the West End next year, directed by Patrick Marber.
Leopoldstadt, which follows a Jewish family living in Vienna across the first half of the 20th century, will premiere at Wyndham’s Theatre in February 2020, with previews form January 25.
Marber and Stoppard last worked together in 2017 on a revival of Travesties, which ran at the Menier Chocolate Factory, in the West End and later transferred to Broadway.
The play will be produced by Sonia Friedman, marking her and Stoppard’s sixth collaboration.
Its opening night will be on February 12, and it will run in May 16.
The full creative team and casting will be announced at a later date.
