Ella Stokes is the winner of a new scholarship at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire funded by Andrew Lloyd Webber.
The grant will cover Stokes’ undergraduate fees for the BA (hons) acting course over the next three years, beginning in September, and has been awarded on the basis of financial need and merit.
Stokes said she was “thrilled and grateful” to have been awarded the bursary.
Royal Birmingham Conservatoire head of acting Stephen Simms said the scholarship meant it could “continue attracting the most gifted actor-singers, irrespective of their financial circumstances”.
Casting director David Grindrod, speaking on behalf of Andrew Lloyd Webber Foundation, said the scholarship would “widen access to the arts for talented young people who wouldn’t otherwise be able to participate”.
