Caro Newling is to step down as the chair of new writing theatre company Paines Plough after nine years.
The theatre producer will be replaced as chair by Kim Grant, who has headed up the company’s audit and risk sub-committee for the past three years.
Newling, who runs production company Neal Street Productions and is also vice president of the Society of London Theatre, will remain involved with Paines Plough and will spearhead the launch of a new patrons initiative next year.
Grant, a former director of finance at the Lyric Hammersmith, said of her appointment: “I am honoured to follow in Caro’s footsteps. She has been an inspirational chair during a game-changing time in the company’s life and I am particularly thrilled that she will remain involved, continuing to support Paines Plough’s growth through its inaugural patrons’ initiative.”
The theatre company’s board has also appointed three new members: Ankur Bahl, Carolyn Saunders and Sarah Mansell.
