A theatre in Nottingham that has been forced to close due to the Covid-19 pandemic is launching a Creative Quarantine daily newsletter of activities for adults and children who are confined to their homes.
Nonsuch Studios is behind the newsletter, which will begin on March 23. The venue said more than £50,000 worth of bookings, ticket sales and activities had “gone over night” when it shut due to the government’s advice for the public to avoid theatres.
The newsletter is free, although donations are welcome. Any money raised will go to support the team behind the initiative and artists facing hardship.
Each day will be hosted by a different artist and will have a new theme with two creative tasks – one for children and families and one for adults.
Artistic director and chief executive of Nonsuch Studios, Edward Boott, said: “We’re naturally very anxious and worried about the months ahead, but as creatives and artists we know we’re needed more than ever in this very stressful time.
“So, we’re going to channel our efforts to have some fun.”
Boott added: “We’re planning speed challenges, team games, mindfulness activities and more. Children’s tasks will try and engage some educational activities, while tasks with adults will try and keep everyone’s mind off the situation at hand.”
