West End’s Theatre Cafe to expand with new location
London’s Theatre Cafe is expanding to take over a second premises in the West End, where it plans to host a bigger live programme and fan events.
The Theatre Cafe opened on Shaftesbury Avenue in 2015 as the capital’s first cafe dedicated to theatre, playing show tunes throughout the day and hosting events with performers and fans.
It will now open a larger cafe on St Martin’s Lane near the London Coliseum, however the exact location has not yet been confirmed. It will open in June with plans to offer more live events.
The original cafe will continue to operate as a “grab and go coffee shop” and is being rebranded as the Theatre Cafe Expresso.
The cafe is operated by ticket agency London Theatre Bookings, whose chief operations officer Ryan Woods said: “I am so delighted we have the opportunity to expand the Theatre Cafe. The industry and fans have taken this cafe to their heart, supported us and now we can give them all a bigger space to bring the theatre community together.”
