More than 100 theatre designers including Miriam Buether, Georgia Lowe and Bunny Christie are auctioning their work to raise money for children in Gaza.
Organisers Buether and Lowe have called the auction a demonstration of "the strength of feeling within the industry", and said they hoped it would encourage others to "speak out".
Among the designers to have donated work to the auction so far alongside Buether and Lowe are Christie, Tim Hatley, Anna Fleischle, Tom Scutt, Ben Stones, Christine Jones, Rosanna Vize, Tom Pye, Mark Thompson, Ian MacNeil, Vicki Mortimer and Katrina Lindsay.

Drawings, model pieces and costume designs from leading productions including Operation Mincemeat, Six the Musical, Prima Facie, the Bridge Theatre’s Guys and Dolls and Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. All work will be signed by its designer, with some set to be signed by cast members too.
The auction, entitled Stage Designers Auction for Gaza, will launch on online fundraising platform JumbleBee next month, and run for two weeks.
Money raised will be donated to the Gaza Formula Fund, a grassroots charity started by Lowe and her friend Izziddeen in July 2025 in response to Israel’s blockade of the Gaza Strip.
It aims to distribute formula milk, nappies and other crucial supplies to families and small children in the area.
Lowe told The Stage that Buether had contacted her and expressed a desire to help with her work, and the pair had together conceived of a stage designers’ auction to raise money and awareness in the theatre industry.
“We believe that this auction shows not only the strength of feeling within the theatre industry, but is also an important step in encouraging more voices and institutions to speak out," Lowe and Buether said as they announced the fundraiser.
