Director Atri Banerjee and actor Lauren O’Leary are to host The Stage Awards 2020.
Banerjee and O’Leary were both winners at The Stage Debut Awards 2019.
Since the debut awards launched in 2017, a precedent has been set for winners to present The Stage Awards, with previous hosts including Katy Rudd, Amara Okereke, Samuel Thomas and Miriam-Teak Lee.
Banerjee was awarded best director for Hobson’s Choice at Manchester’s Royal Exchange. In June, Banerjee will direct The Glass Menagerie, also at the Royal Exchange Theatre, and he is currently part of the Almeida’s resident director programme.
O’Leary won The Stage Debut Award for best actress in a play for The Awkward Years at the Other Room, Cardiff. Her other recent credits include The Girl Who Was Very Good at Lying at Theatre 503.
She said: “I’m so excited to be hosting The Stage Awards this year.
“It’s such a great opportunity to acknowledge and celebrate the artistic achievements of theatre-makers across the country and I’m thrilled to be a part of it.”
The Stage Awards 2020, in association with Integro Insurance Brokers Ltd, take place on January 31 at the Royal Opera House in London.
The awards celebrate theatrical achievements in the West End, regional, fringe and international theatre.
