Exeter Northcott Theatre artistic director Daniel Buckroyd made an unexpected appearance when he stepped in last minute to save the venue’s Beauty and the Beast pantomime.
Buckroyd stepped in to cover the role of Cupid on December 4, the show’s press night, as actor Dafydd Lansley was too unwell to perform. He had an afternoon’s notice to prepare and went on with script in hand.
Buckroyd, who also wrote and directs the show, said: “This is the beauty of live theatre – anything can happen and we all pull together to ensure the show goes on. We have a fantastic cast and creative team and we’ve been delighted with the audience response so far.”
“There’s nothing like panto for bringing people together and getting into the Christmas spirit,” he added.
Last year, Theatr Clwyd artistic director Tamara Harvey stepped into the leading role of Alice in Dick Whittington, following a cast injury
