Sadler’s Wells has announced that it will be presenting new dance content on Digital Stage, its free online performance platform, in response to the cancellation of shows due to Covid-19.
The first work to be presented in this way will be Deluxe, a new dance piece by BalletBoyz.
The company, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, has previously staged work including Them/Us and Young Men at the London theatre.
One piece of work will be released every week on Facebook and will be available for seven days.
Other performances that will be made available on the platform include a new version of Wilkie Branson’s dance-for-camera installation Tom, and BalletLorent’s Rumpelstiltskin.
Sadler’s Wells will also be expanding its Take Part programme in the form of online workshops and activities for audiences to dance along to in their own homes. Workshops designed for younger children and older people staying at home will be made available from April 1.
The first work in the series, Deluxe, will be released at 7.30pm on March 27 –World Theatre Day – the same time the work was due to be performed live at Sadler’s Wells.
