OffWestEnd has announced new awards for theatre that will be presented online during the coronavirus pandemic.
The OnComms - which stand for online commendations - will celebrate independent, alternative and fringe theatre from organisations across the UK.
Categories will include past productions, new productions and new work using online technologies.
Producers can invite the OnComm assessors to view their show online by contacting OffWestEnd, and if it receives sufficient recommendations, it will be put forward for an OnComm. The award will then be announced online and on social media.
OnComm recipients will also be recognised at the annual Offies awards ceremony held by OffWestEnd in February/March next year.
As well as its Off West End Awards, which are for productions with at least 10 performances, OffWestEnd also runs the OffComm award - Off-West End commendation - for shows with runs of four to nine performances.
The new OnComm Awards are being hosted by Scenesaver, which is a new online hub set up set up by producer Caroline Friedman in partnership with OffWestEnd.com to showcase fringe theatre productions online.
Geoffrey Brown, director of OffWestEnd, said: “The Offies and OffComm Awards presented via OffWestEnd celebrate the creativity and efforts of all those presenting work at the 100-plus independent, alternative and fringe theatres across London, including artists and companies from across the UK and internationally.
"In these challenging times, this new OnComm will continue to recognise and highlight the amazing creativity of these individuals, companies and venues through the work they present online."
