Musical directors from shows including Six and Hamilton will perform numbers from their shows, as part of an online concert to raise money for Acting for Others and the NHS.
Musical Marathon will include contributions from more than 20 musical directors including Gareth Valentine, who worked on shows including The Pajama Game and City of Angels, as well as Katy Richardson, the musical director of Six.
It is being produced by musical director and composer Sam Young, who said his aim was to raise money and give a platform to talent that does not always get seen.
“I’ve been overwhelmed by the response from musical directors not just locally, or even nationally, but internationally. Initially, I just wanted to raise as much money as I could but I now realise this is also a unique opportunity to shine a spotlight on the talent not usually seen on the stage,” he said.
It will be broadcast on the Musical Marathon Facebook page on May 7 at 7pm, with an interval at 8pm to applaud the NHS and carers.
Other musical directors taking part include Richard Baker, Nick Barstow, Richard Beadle, Simon Beck, Mike Dixon, Alex Parker, Matt Spalding, Flynn Sturgeon, and Ian Weinberger.
