Matthew Bourne shows including Romeo and Juliet, Swan Lake and The Car Man will be screened on Sky Arts as part of a digital programme from his company New Adventures.
Reel Adventures will be led by a series of broadcasts of New Adventures productions on Sky Arts, beginning with Swan Lake, marking the first time the show has been broadcast on the small screen.
The show was recorded live at Sadler’s Wells during its 2018/19 tour and will be screened on Sky Arts on April 19.
It will be followed by Romeo and Juliet, Bourne’s newest production, on April 26 and then by The Car Man on May 3.
The productions have all previously been screened in cinemas.
Bourne said: “We’ve been overwhelmed by the support from our dedicated community of friends and followers. It’s important, now more than ever, that we stay connected with each other whilst we navigate what is an incredibly challenging time for us all.
“We have always endeavoured to bring our productions to a wider audience through collaborations with Sky Arts and More2Screen. At a time when none of us are able to enjoy a live performance at our local theatre we’re delighted to be able to reach audiences through their TV. Huge thanks go to Sky Arts and all those involved in creating these films for making this possible at such short notice.”
In addition to the Sky Arts broadcasts, Reel Adventures will be offering an online activity programme, featuring a live company class once a week, creative tasks for children and live Q&As.
