Casting directors behind Hamilton and Follies up for inaugural awards honouring their craft
Casting directors behind shows including Follies and Hamilton have been nominated for an inaugural awards ceremony honouring their work.
The Casting Awards will be held on February 12 in London, and are run by the Casting Directors’ Guild in partnership with Spotlight.
Four categories are covered by the awards, including best casting in a theatre production, best casting in a TV production and best casting in a film.
The nominees for the theatre production category, sponsored by The Stage, include Sophie Parrott for Orange Tree Theatre’s An Octoroon at the National Theatre, Paul Wooller, Felicity French and Trevor Jackson for Hamilton at the Victoria Palace Theatre, and Wendy Spon and Jacob Sparrow for Follies at the National Theatre.
Other nominees include David Grindrod, Stephen Crockett and Will Burton for Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again’s musical ensemble cast. They are nominated in the film category, alongside others include Lucy Bevan for Murder on the Orient Express.
The nominated productions premiered between September 1, 2017, and August 31, 2018, and were submitted by members of the Casting Directors’ Guild, who will vote for a winner in each category.
