The Summer Conservatory is one of the most popular summer programs at the Stella Adler Studio and in the nation.
Students from all over the world come to experience this rigorous foundation-building course which approximates a full term of our Professional Conservatory and NYU Tisch School of the Arts program. It is officially approved by the National Association of Schools of Theatre as a summer training program. The program ends with a presentation of contemporary and classical scene work. We find the growth demonstrated by the end of the ten weeks palpable, deeply encouraging and an affirmation of our belief that “growth as an actor and growth as a human being are synonymous.
Courses Include: Acting Technique; Scene Study; Movement; Voice & Speech; Improvisation; Shakespeare; Ensemble Building; Acting for Film & Television; Practicum.
The Summer Conservatory also offers an Enhanced Curriculum Option for experienced actors seeking a more rigorous level of work in the Summer Conservatory. To be considered for the Enhanced Curriculum Option, applicants will need to submit an audition consisting of a performance of two contrasting monologues: one contemporary/realism and one classical that should be no longer than 90 seconds in length each. This program is optional and is not a requirement for applying to the Summer Conservatory. The dates, hours, and tuition is the same as the main Summer Conservatory. Enrolment into the enhanced curriculum option is very limited.
