At Bristol Old Vic Theatre School, we offer a wide range of opportunities for young people to foster their love for the arts. Our classes are designed to provide a supportive environment where students can explore their creative potential and develop essential skills in performance, production, filmmaking and much more.
Our courses for under-18s are taught by experienced professionals as well as our own degree students at the height of their training, ensuring an enriching learning experience. These dedicated instructors create a nurturing environment in which young people can build their confidence, develop teamwork skills and gain a deep appreciation of the arts.
Summer Film Camp (ages 11-18), Monday 12 – Friday 16 August, 2024 | £255 | Mixed Abilities
> Age 11-12 from 12 to 16 August
> Age 13-14 from 12 to 16 August
> Age 15-16 from 19 to 23 August
> Age 17-18 from 19 to 23 August
During the film camp you will learn about:
> Performing in front of a camera
> Directing scenes to tell a story
> Framing shots using different camera angles to create dramatic effect
> Using lighting to play with the mood of a scene
> Designing and making costumes to fit different themes
> Setting the tone for a film using sound
> Writing scenes and dialogues to convey drama and action

You will be taught by our current degree students, who are bright young professionals about to embark on their careers in the industry. BOVTS graduates have made their mark on stage and screen for over 75 years, and some have even gone on to win Oscar awards! You can be sure that our students will bring the best of their training and experience to the Young Artists Summer Film Camp.
