This summer, Bristol Old Vic Theatre School invites you to take part in our programme of intensive short courses, each designed to broaden and sharpen your acting skills. These courses are open to anyone aged 18+ with an interest in acting – you may be starting out in acting and enjoy performing as a hobby, or a seasoned professional seeking to learn new approaches or refresh your knowledge.

Regardless of your background, Bristol Old Vic Theatre School offers a fun and nurturing environment in which to pursue your creative ambitions. The support and feedback available from your tutor and peers will help you develop your natural talents and confidence in acting.

Actors’ Lab, Sun 28th Apr - Sunday 6 Oct – Sun 8 Dec, 3 Nov off for half term (Autumn Term) | £150 per 10 week term or £17.50 per drop-in session| Mixed abilities

We all know that vocal and physical stamina as a performer needs to be maintained. These weekly sessions will give you a two-hour movement, voice and acting limber with a BOVTS tutor. You will be guided through practical training covering:

  • Vocal warm-ups to enrich your vocal technique
  • Movement work to bridge the gap between voice and body
  • Analysis and performance of classical as well as contemporary text

By completing this course you will gain:

  • Knowledge of vocal anatomy and the effect it has on voice production
  • A practical toolkit of exercises to take into your own practice
  • A wider community of local practitioners and performers

The sessions are suitable for experienced performers looking to re-energise their performances, as well as for emerging performers seeking to develop their skills for professional performance. Actors’ Lab can expand your skill set, whether you are looking to boost confidence in your performance, preparing a monologue for an audition, or seeking to practice techniques you learned in drama school.
