TV presenter, Britain’s Got Talent judge and actor Amanda Holden has dipped her toes into a variety of performance roles.
Take Princess Fiona in Shrek the Musical for instance, her foray into pantomime in Cinderella at the London Palladium, or her part in tap-dancing comedy Stepping Out.
But Holden has really made a splash with her latest role – and shown the depths she will go to for a porpoise (and a purpose).
Holden was submerged into a tank of water, in a billowing gown, and photographed pressing her hands against the glass.
No, this was not for a live-action adaptation of Little Mermaid, but instead for a campaign by charity PETA to protest against animals being kept captive in Sea World.
Holden tells us that all animals should be free, adding: “These are animals with their own cultures and language.
“The more we understand about the extraordinary capabilities of these wonderful whales, the more we can realise just how disgusting their captivity and confinement is.”
While giving her top marks for effort, Tabard isn’t quite 100% shore what is going on.
Tabard fully agrees with the sentiment, but is a little confused as to what the actor is supposed to represent. Is she a sea animal? If so, why is she wearing a ballgown, rather than a dolphin outfit? Either way, at least she’s making some waves for the cause of animal welfare.
