Poll: Have you ever booked a show based primarily on star casting?

Last week, Kimberley Walsh, who found fame with the pop group Girls Aloud and is now preparing to star in Big the Musical, said she understood why some people have sceptical views on star casting in theatre, when higher-profile names secure lead roles over lesser known talent.

Her comments come following the news that former Pussycat Dolls performer Ashley Roberts will be joining the West End cast of Waitress, taking over temporarily from Laura Baldwin during the summer.
