Theatre Deli is to open a new venue that will offer affordable rehearsal space on Shaftesbury Avenue in the West End.
The news comes as a new leadership team is announced for the organisation, which focuses on artist development and already runs two buildings in London and one in Sheffield.
Spread over two floors in Wingate House on Shaftesbury Avenue, the new venue aims to support artists and entrepreneurs with rehearsal space, workshop facilities, masterclasses and joint working areas.
The venue was secured by Theatre Deli co-founder Jess Brewster, who has stepped down from her chief executive and artistic director role at the organisation to take on the role of director at the Roses Theatre in Tewkesbury.
She will be succeeded by Turan Ali as interim artistic director and chief executive and David Ralf as executive director.
Ralf is currently executive director at the Bunker Theatre, while Ali has formerly worked as head of performing arts for the Commonwealth Institute.
Ali said: “With [this new venue] in the heart of Soho, we can give many theatremakers, artists and new voices in British drama the opportunity to have affordable, supported and nurtured development in the heart of London’s Theatreland.”
