Police have recovered a van carrying costumes for the Royal Exchange Theatre’s forthcoming production of Gypsy.
The van was stolen on October 17, but has now been found.
All of the costumes and props within it – including Don Warrington’s dressing gown from All My Sons and some of the costumes from The Night Watch – were still in the van.
Simon Curtis, head of production at the Manchester theatre, said: “A huge thank you to Greater Manchester Police and for the huge support we have had from the public and other theatres. The show must go on.”
The venue said that, since news of the theft broke, it had received “so many messages and phone calls with support from other theatres and the public”.
According to the venue, some people even offered to make costumes for Gypsy.
