Sandi Toksvig is to chair a live debate between the two candidates standing for general secretary of Equity.
The live online hustings will enable both candidates – Paul Fleming and Simon Curtis – the opportunity to address the union’s membership.
It will take place on May 20, with Equity members invited to submit questions for the candidates, before and during the event.
Toksvig said: “It’s been 15 years since Equity elected anyone to this role. The next general secretary of Equity will be steering the union, the council and its members through an uncertain future post-Covid and I am honoured to chair this opportunity for the union membership to meet and question both candidates in a live online hustings.”
The live debate starts at 4pm and Equity members can register to attend the event at bit.ly/gensec-2020-hustings which will be broadcast on Crowdcast.
Ballot papers will be go out in the week of June 1 and the ballot ends on July 8. The report of the scrutineer, who will oversee the counting of the ballot papers, will be published on July 10.
The live hustings will be recorded and made available to Equity members after the event.
Equity members are invited to submit questions to both candidates by May 13, to firstname.lastname@example.org
