Maxine Peake will star in a new show at the Barbican about one woman’s experiences with IVF.
Avalanche: A Love Story is adapted from Julia Leigh’s memoir of the same name, which is based on Leigh’s own story of trying to have a baby through IVF. It will mark Peake’s first appearance at the Barbican.
The production, which runs at the Barbican in London from April 27 to May 12, is the centrepiece of Fertility Fest, an arts festival devoted to “modern families and the science of making babies”.
The festival is now in its third year and takes place from April 23 to May 18.
Avalanche is directed by Anne-Louise Sarks and co-produced by the Barbican, Fertility Fest and Sydney Theatre Company. The play will run in Sydney in August and September.
