Jason Manford is to star in a new production of the Kander and Ebb musical Curtains, which will tour the UK later this year.
The musical, by the creators of Cabaret and Chicago, tells the story of an actress murdered on stage, and the search to find her killer.
Manford, whose theatre credits include Sweeney Todd in the West End and the national tours of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and The Producers, will star as detective Frank Cioffi in the show. Further casting is to be announced.
It opens at the Churchill Theatre in Bromley on October 4, before touring the UK until April 2020. It will play at 14 other locations including Manchester, Cardiff, Sunderland, Glasgow and Leicester.
The production will be directed by Paul Foster, with choreography by Alistair David and musical supervision and arrangements by Sarah Travis.
Design will be by David Woodhead, with costumes by Gabriella Slade, lighting by Tim Mitchell and sound by Tom Marshall. Casting is by Jim Arnold.
Curtains has music by John Kander, lyrics by Fred Ebb and a book by Rupert Holmes. The tour is produced by Dan Looney, Adam Paulden and Jason Haigh-Ellery for DLAP entertainment.
