The Old Vic is holding free carol concerts every day for two weeks in December, as a way of opening its building to people who may be spending the festive period alone.
The London theatre is seeking to bring together school choirs with groups of older people for a daily carol concert, which will be followed by tea and mince pies.
The Christmas Through the Ages project in intended to help address the fact that almost 1 million people in the UK will spend Christmas alone, and has been inspired by the themes of compassion and generosity in Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol, which is running at the Old Vic throughout December.
The carol concerts will take place at 11am daily, beginning on December 3 and continuing until December 14.
The Old Vic is looking for 10 London school choirs and local community groups for older people to take part in the events. More information can be found here.
