Arts Council England has created a new role to support the cultural sector work with new technologies.
Tonya Nelson has been named the first director of arts technology and innovation, and will work with the sector to “promote digital transformation”.
Nelson co-authored the Culture Is Digital paper for the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport in 2018.
Nelson said “I am honoured and excited to take on this new role. As one of the co-authors of last year’s DCMS Culture is Digital policy report, I look forward to working with Arts Council colleagues to promote digital transformation across the cultural sector.”
ACE deputy chief executive Simon Mellor said she would bring “a deep understanding of the way that new technologies are shaping culture”.
