Eve Myles, David Threlfall and Jasper Britton are among the actors named finalists of the 2019 BBC Audio Drama Awards.
Myles is nominated for her performance in 19 Weeks, which is also up for best original single drama. She is on the best actress shortlist alongside Sudha Bhuchar for My Son the Doctor and Sydney Wade for D for Dexter, all for BBC Radio 4.
The best actor finalists include Britton for A Month of Maureen – Three Journeys, Threlfall for Spike and the Elfin Oak, and Liam Brennan for Five Days Which Changed Everything.
Other actors nominated include Karlo Diaz, Daisy Head and Georgia Scholes, all in the best debut performance category.
The finalists include two new categories for 2019: best European drama and best director. The directing nominees are Steve Bond and Judith Kampfner for Shadowbahn, Abigail le Fleming for The Effect, and Peter Kavanagh for The Wild Duck, while finalists for the European drama category hail from Romania, Croatia and Ireland.
Amelia Bullmore’s County Lines is shortlisted for best original single drama alongside 19 Weeks by Emily Steel and Avi Garvi’s The Chosen One.
The adaptation category includes Karl Marx’s Das Kapital adapted by Sarah Woods, Love Henry James: The Turn of the Screw by Linda Marshall Griffiths and a version of Charles Dickens’ A Tale of Two Cities transposed to Aleppo and London by Ayeesha Menon.
Each category is judged by a team of experts and will be awarded at a ceremony at the BBC Radio Theatre, London, on February 3, presented by Tracy-Ann Oberman.
