A new website has been launched that aims to give the theatre industry the tools it needs to begin rebuilding after lockdown ends.
Devised by the Society of London Theatre and UK Theatre, the site - theatremeansbusiness.info - will feature live and pre-recorded webinars aimed at preparing the sector for the challenges of reopening.
The webinars will cover topics such as business interruption planning and audience development for recovery.
UK Theatre head Sebastian Cater said: “Our members are having to take some tough decisions about their organisations at present, and we wanted to help them and the wider sector by creating this website. We’ve curated these webinars to provide the resources and support our workforce needs to plan for the future.”
Most of the webinars do not require SOLT or UK Theatre membership to join, with the organisations stating their aim is to provide “advice and support to as many offstage industry professionals as possible – whether someone is working from home on business planning, furloughed and needing inspiration, or new to the industry and wanting professional development”.
While some of the webinars will cost to watch, many will be free of charge, with some SOLT and UK Theatre sessions giving the option to make a contribution, which will be split between the two organisations and the invited speaker.
