Musical theatre station Encore Radio is to be taken off air as part of a shake-up by owner Bauer Media.
The radio station launched in 2016, with Jamie Crick as its content director. It was backed by radio group UKRD and counted Kerry Ellis among its presenters.
UKRD was acquired by Bauer last year, which has its own offering, Magic at the Musicals.
It is understood Bauer considered Encore to be too similar to its own offering, and has taken the decision to close it.
It comes as Bauer announces a new commercial radio network, comprising Lincs FM, Celador Radio, UKRD and Wireless local stations, all of which were acquired by Bauer in 2019.
They will join the Hits Radio Brand Network, “providing the highest listening hours of any commercial radio brand”, Bauer said.
A statement said: “These changes do unfortunately mean that some roles will be put into consultation and freelance contracts reviewed.
"Bauer Media is fully committed to supporting all affected employees throughout this period and will be working closely with them over the months ahead. A period of consultation with employees potentially affected will commence today.”
