A Birmingham-based musical theatre school is expanding to launch a London offering, with West End performer Marisha Wallace as its patron.
BITA Musical Theatre has rebranded as the Musical Theatre Institute and is launching in London in 2021.
The London school will be led by performer Kieran Brown, who will take on the role of principal. It will be based in Blackheath and run with help from patrons Wallace and Cleve September.
The Musical Theatre Institute currently provides training for 12 to 19-year-olds, but will be expanding its offering to provide classes for adult professionals in the industry.
Head of the Musical Theatre Institute and co-founder Chris Passey said: “Despite the decimation overnight of the arts landscape across the UK, the Musical Theatre Institute is determined to remain a beacon of hope for our students and their families.
"As we have always done, TMTI will continue to hire young and innovative artists, designers, and production teams to help build up the next generation of theatremakers who will need to be ever-more resilient in our new and uncertain world."
