Kneehigh has appointed Michelle Carwardine-Palmer, managing director of National Theatre Wales, as its new executive director.
She will take up her post with the theatre company in April.
Carwardine-Palmer will work alongside artistic directors Mike Shepherd and Carl Grose.
Michelle joined NTW having been joint chief executive at Salisbury Playhouse.
She will work with Kneehigh on a part-time basis, offering management consultancy for the rest of the time.
The company has also announced that Hedda Archbold will succeed Alan Livingston as its chair with immediate effect.
A joint statement issued by Shepherd and Grose said: “We were blown away by their passion for the company, their wit, their wisdom and their incisive knowledge of the industry. Naturally, we’re utterly delighted they’ve agreed to jump on board. We warmly welcome Hedda and Michelle and can’t wait to work together as we embark on the next exciting chapter for Kneehigh.”
Carwardine-Palmer described it as “an exciting time to be co-leading one of the UK’s most successful theatre companies”.
