Jordan Brookes has won the main prize at this year’s Edinburgh Comedy Awards for his show I’ve Got Nothing.
I’ve Got Nothing, at the Pleasance Courtyard, was named best comedy show at Dave’s Edinburgh Comedy Awards, renamed this year following sponsorship from the TV channel.
Brookes was previously nominated for the award in 2017.
Brookes saw off competition from eight other nominees, the highest number ever shortlisted in the best show category, with fellow contenders including Spencer Jones, Ivo Graham, Jessica Fostekew and London Hughes, who was the first black British woman to be nominated for the prize.
Catherine Cohen won the best newcomer award for her show for The Twist…? She’s Gorgeous, while the panel award went to Jessica Brough, the founder of the Fringe of Colour initiative.
The awards were presented in Edinburgh on August 24 by Stephen Fry – who won the first Edinburgh Comedy Award as part of the Cambridge Footlights in 1981 – and last year’s winner Rose Matafeo.
