EastEnders star Tameka Empson has been cast in Hackney Empire’s 2018 pantomime, Aladdin.
Empson will appear alongside the previously announced Clive Rowe, who will play the pantomime dame in the London theatre’s annual pantomime.
She has not acted on stage since joining the soap in 2008 but regularly performed at Hackney Empire before then.
This year’s pantomime will be the 20th to be written and directed by Susie McKenna and composer Steven Edis.
McKenna said: “I’m absolutely over the moon to have Tameka back with us for our 20th anniversary pantomime of Aladdin and I’m sure audiences old and new will give her a true Hackney welcome. I think Tameka is a comic genius, she brings a very special kind of humour to every role and character and I’m relishing the opportunity to write for both her and our inimitable Dame Clive Rowe once again this year.”
Aladdin runs from November 24 to January 6, with press night on December 5.
