East 15 Acting School has undergone a £2 million refurbishment, which includes a new library and common room.
The works were carried out at the drama school’s Corbett Theatre, situated within the University of Essex’s Loughton Campus.
During the renovation, old extensions were demolished and replaced with two contemporary buildings, housing a new library, common room, IT suite, changing rooms, kitchen and dining room.
The scheme was designed by property and construction consultancy Ingleton Wood.
Leon Rubin, director of East 15, said: “The improved building will serve as the student hub for the East 15 campus – providing state-of-the-art facilities that will ensure we can continue to maintain the highest of standards as one of the UK’s leading theatre schools.”
Chris Stammers, director and architect at Ingleton Wood, added: “The style of the new building complex is sensitively designed to complement the pseudo-agricultural aesthetic of the main theatre hall.”
