The Duchess of Sussex is to continue as patron of the National Theatre, despite the announcement that she and the Duke of Sussex are stepping down as senior members of the Royal Family.
Earlier this week, the couple released a statement in which they said they intended to work to becoming “financially independent” and that they would be splitting their time between Canada and the UK.
Following the announcement, the National Theatre confirmed the Duchess of Sussex would continue as royal patron.
“We very much look forward to continuing our work with her,” a spokeswoman said.
The Duchess of Sussex took on the role in January last year, taking over from the Queen, who had held the role for the past 45 years.
It was among the first of the Duchess’ patronages to be announced.
