Tonight’s performance of Death of a Salesman has been cancelled, following the partial collapse of the ceiling at the Piccadilly Theatre.
The theatre’s owner, Ambassador Theatre Group, confirmed the evening performance on November 7 would not go ahead following the incident, which occurred part way through the November 6 performance, at about 8pm.
ATG’s statement said: “Following an incident at Piccadilly Theatre last night tonight’s performance is cancelled. We are ascertaining the extent of the situation, and will be providing an update on future performances as soon as possible.
“If you have tickets for tonight’s performance, please contact the source you purchased your ticket from for an exchange or refund.”
ATG has confirmed that five people had been injured as a result of the collapse, which occurred when plasterboard on the ceiling of the upper rear circle fell.
Theatregoers have described the “terrifying moment” the incident happened. Lowri Jenkins said audience members had began to notice a “constant dripping” once the performance started and the plasterboard fell about 20 minutes later.
