Damian Lewis will return to the West End in a new production of David Mamet’s American Buffalo.
Sheffield Theatres artistic director Daniel Evans will direct the play, which will run at Wyndham’s Theatre from April 16 to June 27, with a press night to be held on April 27.
Describing Mamet as one of “the greatest living playwrights”, Lewis said: “It’s exciting for me to be back on stage, particularly as I will have the pleasure of working with director Daniel Evans, who I trained with at Guildhall School of Music and Drama. We’ve always wanted to work together and I really can’t think of a more exciting project to partner on.”
Evans praised Lewis in return, and added that his “particular qualities as an actor will offer us something very special in this part”.
American Buffalo will be produced by Playful Productions, with further casting and creatives yet to be announced.
