More than £125,000 has so far been raised by the sale of specially designed ‘The Show Must Go On’ T-shirts, with more than 7,500 orders placed in the first four weeks.
The T-shirts have been on sale alongside other items, including mugs and badges, and were the brainchild of Damien Stanton and Chris Marcus, who created them under the Theatre Support Fund banner.
Money raised is split between Acting for Others, the Fleabag Support Fund and the NHS Covid-19 Urgent Appeal.
Orders for the items have come from across 42 countries. Well-known faces who have ordered the T-shirts include Judi Dench, Rachel Tucker and Beverley Knight.
Stanton and Marcus said: “The response to the project so far has been incredible. It’s heartwarming to see the support towards the theatre industry and the people who work within it. We’re receiving messages every day from people expressing how much they’re missing being able to go to the theatre. By buying a T-shirt they’re hoping to give something back to the industry they love so much.”
The T-shirts feature branding from 16 West End shows including Dear Evan Hansen and Six the Musical.
