West End musical Come from Away has launched its own podcast, offering a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the inspiration and the making of the show.
The eight-part series is being produced by Curtain Call, and focuses on the story behind the Olivier and Tony award-winning musical.
The podcast, called Welcome to the Rock, will feature in-depth interviews with members of the London and Broadway casts, as well as the writers and creative team and the people who inspired the show’s story.
Come from Away opened at the West End’s Phoenix Theatre earlier this year, and won four Olivier awards, including best new musical.
It is based on the true story of the Canadian town of Gander in Newfoundland, where residents hosted more than 6,000 people whose airplanes had been grounded there over 9/11.
The first podcast episode was released on November 27 and will continue on a weekly basis for the next seven weeks.
Episode one includes interviews with the show’s writers David Hein and Irene Sankoff, as well as with director Christopher Ashley and London cast members.
