A demonstration calling for more inclusivity within the industry is to take place in Trafalgar Square in London.
Theatre company Bashir Productions is behind the demonstration – Creative Movement Day – which it hopes will become an annual event.
Creative Movement Day, which is open to all, will take place from midday to 3pm on Saturday, July 21. Organisers expect about 100 participants.
The event aims to “promote equality and diversity among actors, directors, writers, singers, dancers, casting directors and many more” as well as to connect different creatives.
Founder of Bashir Productions Mimi Malaz Bashir said: “I want this to be a day that people from all over the country and the world can participate in and address the issues of equality and diversity in the performing arts, through a peaceful and creative demonstration.
“If you cannot attend our event in London, please feel free to do your own peaceful demonstrations.”
