Caroline Routh has been appointed executive director of the Stephen Joseph Theatre in Scarborough.
Until recently, she held the same role at Nuffield Southampton Theatres, and will take up her new position in late spring.
Routh will become joint chief executive with artistic director Paul Robinson, who said: “[Routh] is a hugely experienced, dedicated and passionate cultural leader and understands what it takes to make meaningful and long-term relationships with audiences and partners. I am really looking forward to forging the most dynamic of partnerships as we move into our next exciting stage here at the SJT.”
Routh’s previous positions have included executive director at Northern Stage and executive producer at Musical Theatre Network.
She will replace Stephen Freeman as the SJT’s executive director. Freeman was appointed to the same role at Manchester’s Royal Exchange last year and joined the venue in January.
