Leonard Blavatnik’s Access Entertainment, which recently purchased the West End’s Theatre Royal Haymarket, has been announced as the headline sponsor for this year’s The Stage Debut Awards.
The Stage Debut Awards, now in their second year, celebrate emerging talent in theatre, from actors, writers and directors to designers and composers, all of whom have made their professional debuts in the past year.
Access Entertainment will be the headline sponsor for the 2018 awards, which take place on September 23 in London.
The company is the TV, film and theatre investment division of Blavatnik’s Access Industries.
Headed up by former BBC TV chief Danny Cohen, Access Entertainment made its first moves into theatre ownership when it acquired the Haymarket last month for a sum understood to be in the region of £45 million.
Blavatnik said: “Access Entertainment is thrilled to sponsor The Stage Debut Awards this year, recognising and supporting the rising stars of the theatrical world.”
Judging for this round of awards has run from August 1, 2017 and ends on July 31.
The Stage’s commercial director Simon Hassell said: “We are absolutely delighted to partner with Access Entertainment. Its generous support for The Stage Debut Awards allows for more emerging talent to be recognised and careers to flourish.”
