Hollywood actor Matthew Broderick is up against On Your Feet! [1] star Christie Prades and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat [2]’s Jac Yarrow for this year’s Joe Allen Best West End Debut award.

The award is part of The Stage Debut Awards [3], in association with Access Entertainment, which celebrate emerging talent in the theatre industry.

It is given to an actor or creative team member who has made their West End debut during the past year, and is the only category in The Stage Debut Awards to be decided by public vote.

Broderick is up for The Starry Messenger [4], with others nominated including Andrew Burnap for The Inheritance [5], and his co-star Samuel H Levine.

Nathanael Campbell is nominated for Come from Away [6], with Saffron Coomber up for Emilia [7]. Sarah Gordy has received a nod for Jellyfish [8], at the National Theatre, with Ryan Hutton nominated for Only Fools and Horses the Musical [9].

The community cast of the National Theatre’s production of Pericles [10] is also nominated.

Members of the public can vote online for the winner of the Joe Allen Best West End Debut award here [11].

Voting is open until September 8 and the winners of The Stage Debut Awards will all be announced at a ceremony in London on September 15.
