Mischief Theatre teams up with Penn and Teller for Magic Goes Wrong production

Mischief Theatre is collaborating with magicians Penn and Teller on a new show for its West End residency at the Vaudeville Theatre.

Magic Goes Wrong will be the second production in the company’s year-long engagement at the Vaudeville [1], following the previously announced Groan Ups.

Henry Lewis and Jonathan Sayer, Mischief’s artistic director and company director respectively, said in a joint statement: “We can’t believe we’re getting to work with the iconic Penn and Teller for Magic Goes Wrong. The next ‘Goes Wrong’ show has been a long time coming so we can’t wait for audiences to join the original Mischief company at the Vaudeville for what we’re sure will be an evening full of surprises – mainly for us and the stage management.”

The production runs from December 14, with press night on January 8, 2020.

It is written by Lewis, Sayer, Henry Shields, Penn Jillette and Teller, and directed by Adam Meggido.

Teller said: “When our own magic has gone wrong, we were miserable, but when it’s somebody else, it’s hilarious, so this seems like the perfect project for Mischief and us.”

Magic Goes Wrong is produced by Kenny Wax, Stage Presence, Kevin McCollum and JJ Abrams.
