Jodie Prenger to star in National Theatre tour of A Taste of Honey
Jodie Prenger will star in a new tour of A Taste of Honey, produced by the National Theatre.
Bijan Sheibani’s production ran in the Lyttelton in 2014 and will return this year for a tour, playing at nine venues across the UK.
Prenger will play Helen in Shelagh Delaney’s play – the role played by Lesley Sharp when it ran at the NT.
The tour will open in Salford, where the play is set, and will run at the Lowry from September 13 to 21. Press night will be on September 20.
It will then visit the King’s Theatre in Edinburgh, the Marlowe Theatre in Canterbury, Richmond Theatre, the Grand Opera House in Belfast, Leicester’s Curve, Theatre Royal Bath, the Wolverhampton Grand Theatre and Norwich Theatre Royal.
The tour will finish in Norwich on November 16.
The production, which includes a live on-stage band, has design by Hildegard Bechtler, sound by Ian Dickinson for Autograph, music by Paul Englishby and movement by Aline David.
Further casting will be announced.
